Twinkle in My Eyes


This is the 100th post on my blog and it had to be Special. And so, it is!

This is dedicated to the sparkle of my eyes, my thirty months old daughter, Vaanshi.



Sweetheart,

When I come back from work, and you rush to me to give me, I mean give my knees, a hug… You Twinkle in My Eyes.

When at bedtime, you cook a story with me and make elephants fly, squirrels sing and donkeys dance… You Twinkle in My Eyes.

When you don’t get your new shoes off even when you go to bed… You Twinkle in My Eyes.

Circus within Circus

“Daddy, we will go to cilcus tonight.” The first thing I heard as I entered my bedroom.

Tip: Gilaffe equals Giraffe, Lain equals Rain and Hulley equals Hurrey. You join the dots.

After her daily follow-up and my procrastination for about a fortnight, my three year old, Gulu, decided to switch from request-mode to declaration-mode.

Running out of reasons to postpone, finally I surrendered. I nodded in approval.

“Wow! Yey!” she jumped in joy and rushed uncontrollably towards me to give me a hug – actually, to give my legs a hug.

I tapped on her head as she went back to her teaching class where she had made six of her teddy bears sit tidily in two queues of three each; needless to say, she was the teacher.  Continue reading “Circus within Circus”

She’ll Be What I Am

Just like any other father, I always want my daughter to remain daddy’s li’l doll. When she is just six months old, you are inclined to giving her a finger to hold; it often leads to underestimating her abilities though.

I thought she was too little to understand the world. I didn’t realize that I was wrong until that morning when she smiled when I smiled and frowned when I fake-frowned. I first thought it was a co-incidence. I repeated the sequence to be sure. Continue reading “She’ll Be What I Am”
