The Gift

The doorbell rang. She opened the door.

It was a parcel. She signed for it as a nicely dressed man handed over a sparkly red box, neatly gift wrapped.

She was puzzled as she was not expecting any gifts.

She read for the addresses. It was addressed to Him; from someone called Lucy.

“Here is a gift parcel for you.” She immediately informed.

“For me?” He appeared from the bedroom with a wondered expression.

“Yes.” She handed over the box to him.

“Who is it from?” he asked as he turned sides looking for the name of the sender.

“It is from Lucy. Who is Lucy?” she asked with hands on hips.

“Oh my God! I had told her not to do something this stupid.” he said frantically.

“I asked, who the hell is Lucy??” she was angry this time.

“Sweetheart, please don’t be mad.” he said anxiously.

“Don’t give me a reason to be mad.” she was right on the money. Continue reading “The Gift”

7 Limited, 1 Unlimited

In an isolated hostel campus, when you don’t have any real options for food except a messy mess, a new option to eat, it is orgasm for stomach.

“Guys, a new eatery has opened by the barber’s shop today. We must go check it out.” As the sun was set to set, Bubba rushed in with matchless energy for his love for food was known to the whole group.

JP quickly stood up from his I-don’t-give-a-shit-to-the-world mode from the muddled bed for he was a partner in crime with Bubba when it came to being a foodie.

In no time, the eight of us, the gang mates, assembled at the gate to go and check out –read, attack- the new food joint. Continue reading “7 Limited, 1 Unlimited”

Sharing the Footprints

Sharing the Footprints

Cuddling her solitude, as she walked down the boulevard garnished with yellowish orange leaves and milky white flowers, flourished trees bowed from each side of the walkway and stretched their souls out to kiss at the top in the middle, right above her head.

While streaks of sunshine made their way through the dense leaves forming a golden work of art in the green backdrop, she sneaked the bars of sunshine with flickering eyelids.

Her feet quietly crushed the freshly dropped flower. Still drizzly owing to the morning dew, the flower happily surrendered under her feet for the striking beauty that she was, on the whole and at the soul.

But, she still missed something. Him. The softest of the leaves and the blossomed flowers could not tickle her feet enough as her mind wandered down the memory lanes… Continue reading “Sharing the Footprints”

Shit for Tat

Sam remote-beeped his car open while scrolling through his phone. Hearing the beep, a pretty dog – let’s call her She– peeped from underneath the car. As she saw Sam walking up to the car, she came out and waited near the driver’s door. Sam looked up from his phone to realize someone waiting with tilted head, pattering tail, drooling tongue and innocent twinkling eyes. Continue reading “Shit for Tat”

Bits of Us

“Good morning, sweetheart. Happy Anniversary.” she said hugging him from behind, leaning onto him.

“Anniversary?” he looked up from the newspaper.

“You forgot, didn’t you?” her smile narrowed and so did her eyebrows.

“Our anniversary is not until next two months, honey.” He was ultra-cautious of remembering their marriage anniversary ever since he forgot it once and paid the price.

“Today is our First-Date anniversary.” She said.

It was ironic how what she nursed in obvious ways, he thought of as something obviously not to care for.

She fumed to the kitchen. Continue reading “Bits of Us”

Kiss Me Here

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon for him until the doorbell rang. She had returned from an hour long shopping; it was a shopping of a different kind though.

She walked straight to the bedroom; he followed her.

She plucked the lower end of the shopping bag and toppled it on the study table at one go.

A volcano erupted. Continue reading “Kiss Me Here”

What Makes Us What We Are?

On Friendship Day, To My Friends Beyond Boundaries…

The Walks that we had together down the lanes that lead to nowhere are what make us what we are.

The Fights that we had, secretly hoping the other would end up winning, are what make us what we are.

Knowing that you would step on a banana peel, keeping silent, and waiting till you fall flat on bums and then laughing my ass off is what makes us what we are. Continue reading “What Makes Us What We Are?”

Heaven

It was a pleasant, peaceful evening.

Just like every day, after dinner, he grabbed a book and sat on his chair by the window in the bedroom. He gently rocked the chair as he plucked the bookmark and opened the book to read. The pages giggled as a waft of cool breeze tickled them.

After wrapping up bits and pieces in the kitchen, she came to the bedroom. She looked tired and exhausted. Work and home were on a race to wear her out. And both won, each day; day after day. Continue reading “Heaven”
