The Liebster Award

Neerja, one of my first friends from the Blogging world, nominated me for the Liebster Award. As the feeling sinks in, it feels great.

Thank you, Neerja for thinking of me as a deserving blogger for this award. Writing answers to your questions, framing questions for my nominations – everything was fun.

  1. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  2. Answer the questions given to you by the nominator.
  3. Nominate up to 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.
  4. Create 11 questions for the nominees.

My Answers to Neerja’s questions.

Q.1: What is your favorite read so far and why?

Let me tell you a secret. You would not believe if I told you I hardly read books, would you? Yes, I am a horrible reader. I have read number of books which I can count on my fingers – fingers of just one hand. Yes. But out of those, I loved ‘The Da Vinci Code’ by Dan Brown.

Q.2: What kind of a person you are sweet or sour or mix up of both?

I am pH balancer sort of a person. When sweetness lacks somewhere, I tend to fill the void and when it is too sweet all around, the salty-me surfaces.

Q.3: What is your favorite food?

Firstly, food for me is about quality, not quantity. I am far far far away from being a sweet tooth. Anything non-sweet is welcome anytime of the day or even night. It is difficult to select one specific dish but if you must know it has to be Homemade Spicy Vegetable Khichadi.

Q.4: Are you a night owl or an early cuckoo?

As I type this, the clock reads 02:26AM 🙂

Q.5: Which genre you like to read most and why?

As I said, I am not an avid reader. But in general, I love reading humor and things that make me happy. Sad and sob reads are not for me, I guess. I always believe, there are enough tears in the world so let us spread smiles in every little way we can. This applies to anything that I write or even read.

Q.6: What’s according to you is your prized possession?

My daughter is beyond this question so keeping her safe in my heart, I would say next most prized possession will be my ability to see a silver lining in the darkest of clouds. It helps me get out of the craziest of the situations with ease. And of late, I have realized that is a rare quality to have.

Q.7: Do you believe in love at first sight? If yes then why and if no, then why?

At first, second, third, nth sight – I believe in LOVE.

But when you see someone for the first time and your heart start playing hip-hop beats, violins start playing wavy tunes behind you back, while a saxophone accompanies, cuckoo tweets sitting on your shoulders, breeze tickles a hair wisp on your forehead, your eyes travel in time when you would hug that person and feel the smell of their hair – it is matchless.

Q.8: Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

I am inextrovert. Don’t look it up. It is not a word. I am an introvert until I get really comfortable with someone. Once the threshold is reached, well, you will see. 😉

Q.9: Have you ever cried in public? If yes can you state the incident?(if its personal and you don’t want to share then its ok)

I don’t remember crying in public unless I cried so badly someday that I even lost cognizance of doing it. 😀

Q.10: When was the last time you laughed so hard that you rolled on the floor? And why?

I cannot point out one incident because this would be a scenario every evening (read again, yes, every evening) during my life at hostel when a bunch of weirdest friends, who are now known to be my friends for life, would sit together and wander through the world with chit chat starting from love affairs (mostly one sided) to the galaxies far far away to the clogged toilet to planning a mass bunk of fifth lecture the next day.

I cannot help but pick one incident out of the memory-trunk though.

One of our friends, let’s call him D’, was in the one sided crush with a girl, let’s call her ‘N’. D was the topper and N not so much into studies. We were in middle of exams and it was a preparation leave day. It was N’s birthday next day. And D had a teeny urge to wish her at midnight. And before he knew it, 20 guys of our gang grouped and dragged D into the trap of convincing him that it was a good idea calling her at midnight on her cellphone. A spoiler – N’s dad was a police inspector. At the stroke of midnight, with a borrowed cellphone (there were only four cellphones in the entire hostel of 250 odd students in those days), D dialed N’s number and she picked up and here is how it went as the 20 of us stood in front of D in a crowded semi-circle on the hostel’s terrace with nail biting eagerness to see the proceedings of the conversation.

D: Hi? N?

N: Yes. Who is that?

D:Hi. I am N. From your class.

N: Ok. Why are you calling me at this time?

D: *stumbling with words* I…umm.. I…wanted to check with you which chapters are in syllabus for tomorrow’s exam?

N: What? You are the topper and you are asking me?

D: I thought you would know the syllabus so I just thought of crosschecking with you.

N: Cut the crap and put the phone down or I will call my dad.

D: *sweating on a December night* No No. Ok Bye.

N: Good for you.

D: Just so you know, as it is your birthday tomorrow, wish you a happy birthday tonight. *hangs up*

And there were 20 of us rolling on the floor laughing our evils out!!!

Q.11: Have you ever been made fool? When and by whom?

Life fools me. Everyday. But I don’t protest. She is the best teacher.

Q.2: For the next day, if you have to handover that power to someone, who would it be and why?

Q.3: You can have endless life or a death of your choice. What would you choose and why?

Q.4: What would be the title of your first book? And what would be the cover page like?

Tejas 🙂

  1. Congratulations, Tejas anna! I wouldn’t be surprised if a horde of other awards came your way, since you’re that excellent in playing with words and luring us into the practical, fantastic and humourous world you create with literature 🙂 Loved the funny incident with Mr D’s mishap XD and also your answer for the ‘Love at First Sight’ question. Reading between the lines, I see a true story hidden in there <3 😉 Am I right, bro? If yes, PLEASE make a blog post on that!

          1. 🙂 🙂

And I forgot to tell you something. Since you said you’re not an avid reader of books (which I still can’t digest on looking at your intelligence), please don’t let it stop you from reading my upcoming series 😀 It’ll be out in another year or so. And I’d be honoured to receive a review from you 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for nominating me.
    I would be obliged.
Tough questions though, that would take some serious pondering over.
    *starts fretting*
but thank you once more. 🙂

    1. You are welcome Roshani. About toughness of the questions, well I believe, easy is for the ordinary. 🙂 Take your time to think over it and answer. I will look forward to your post.

        1. Well, this sounds like a good plan. Let me see if I can post an incident as a separate post or may be more. It would be great to relive those moments for me too. Thanks for the tip 🙂

    1. Thanks Neerja. I am glad that I lived up to your expectations 😛 And yes, sense of humor is a prized possession but it is a pain in the brace too when someone does not get your humor and think of you as the stupid one. But, well, we have to live with that, I guess.
